We are also pleased to welcome one of world’s finest flat-picking guitarist, David Grier. We are proud to host the Gypsy Jazz sounds of the Hot Club of Asheville for their first return to the stage since Hurricane Helene. And we finish the spring series with the transatlantic folk band, Foreign Landers.

The Hot Club of Asheville, is a collective of Asheville’s finest professional musicians, coming together with a shared love of Gypsy Jazz music. The band honors the traditional Gypsy Swing in the styles of Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli from the 1930-50’s, while infusing the tradition with more modern qualities of jazz expression. The Hot Club of Asheville is Phil Alley and Leo Johnson on guitars with Bob Songster on bass. They are a unique instrumental band, holding the audience’s attention with classy melodic lines, vibrant improvisations and spirited rhythms.

David grier

May 29th, 6:30 PM at the Crush Pad, Marked Tree Vineyard. David Grier’s journey to becoming one of the greatest flat-pick guitarists in the world started at a young age at the feet of Bluegrass legend, Bill Monroe. Grier’s father Lamar Grier was a member of “Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Boys” in the mid-1960s. Throughout his childhood, David spent hours listening to Monroe as well as many other prominent pioneers of Bluegrass music. Among the most influential to him were flat-pick guitarists Clarence White, Tony Rice and Doc Watson. David quickly found a strong passion for guitar and began to develop what is now his own world-renowned distinctive style.
