Excerpts for the January seating auditions are below (March and April will be posted when available). In addition to the required excerpts, sight reading may be required at the audition.

2011-2012 Audition Information
Membership in the Hendersonville Symphony Youth Orchestras is open to public, private, and home school students by audition.
When: beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 7th, 2012.
Where: Trinity Presbyterian Church, 900 Blythe Street, Hendersonville, NC.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
HSYO Sinfonietta String Orchestra:
Who may audition: Students with a minimum of 2 years playing experience and up to age 16.
What to prepare: Please prepare a solo of choice, the required excerpt found by clicking on your instrument below, and the following scales: Violin/Viola/Cello: Any 2 octave major scale required, 3 octave preferred; Bass: Any 2 Octave Scale.
Notification of results and first rehearsal Results will be emailed by Monday, January 9. The first rehearsal of the HSYO Sinfonietta Orchestra will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012. The Sinfonietta Spring 2012 calendar is available here.

HSYO Youth Symphony:
Who may audition: Students 13-21 years old.
What to prepare:
Strings: Please prepare a solo of choice, the required excerpt (both for violins), and the following scales: Violin: Any 3 Octave Scale (A, Bb, C, or D preferred); Viola: Any 3 Octave Scale (D, Eb, F, or G preferred); Cello: Any 3 Octave Scale (F, Bb, Eb, G, D, or A preferred); Bass: Any 2 Octave Scale (C preferred).
Woodwinds, Brass and Percussion: Prepare the current required piece for grades 9-10 or 11-12 (depending on the student’s current grade in school) All-District solo, as posted on the Western Region Bandmasters website (click here), one scale from the Honors Band scale requirements as posted on the state bandmasters website (click here), and the required excerpt (below) for your instrument. Please bring an extra copy of your solo with you to the audition.
