As professor of Violin and Orchestral Activities at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, he conducts the Furman Symphony Orchestra in orchestral, operatic and oratorio performances each year.

Since 1980 Joiner has served on the faculty of the Brevard Music Center where he holds the Dr. and Mrs. William J. Pendergrast, Sr. Artist Chair and is co-concertmaster of the Brevard Music Festival Orchestra and conductor of the Transylvania Symphony Orchestra. In the spring of 2001, Joiner spent a sabbatical in France studying with the eminent maestro John Nelson, Music Director of the L'Ensemble Orchestral deParis.
Joiner has performed in Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center as a principal player with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and has been a violinist with orchestras in

As an Artistic Ambassador for the United States Information Agency, he presented seventeen violin recitals with pianist Douglas Weeks during a 1996 five-week tour of western Africa and the Middle East.
Joiner served as Director of Orchestral Activities and Professor of Violin at the University of Georgia School of Music in Violin for eleven years, returning to his alma mater, Furman University, in 1994. He earned the Doctor of Music Performance from Florida State University, the Masters of Church Music in Musicology from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and the Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Furman University.

He and his wife, violist Anna Barbrey have performed as the Joiner Duo throughout the southeast and served as artist-in-residence at the Universidade do Rio Grand do Sul in Brazil. The Joiners presented a New York debut recital at the Donnell Library Center in 1997. They are frequent performers at the Biltmore House for Candlelight Christmas. Their compact disc recording of music for violin and viola entitled Intermezzo was released in the fall of 2000 on the ACA Digital label.
Joiner is a native of Rock Hill, South Carolina.
